This is an authentic Cahuilla Indian hut which is at the Living Desert Reserve in Palm Desert, CA. The reserve is at the end of Deep Canyon and I've been a member there for over 30 years. A Cahuilla elder actually built this house and it is cool in summer, thanks to the palm fronds. And, the breeze gently flows through it. I love stopping by it and soaking in all of its smells. It's a delightful place to visit and just stop and listen and close your eyes. While it doesn't have formal windows or a door, it is an integral part of the Cahuilla culture which is still in our valley. WWDD for February 20, 2012.
