THIS is why we travel...

I always take at least one photo of my husband wherever we are.  Here is one that I took on our Sierra trip a couple of weeks ago.  It makes me happy to see hubby out in nature...enjoying it!

Outdoor Wednesday~October 19, 2016

I just thought I would take a day and post odds & ends from our trip so far.  I took over 400 photos during our 8 nights up in the eastern Sierra Nevada...

This is driving up Old Mammoth Road...
We saw 3 deer one morning.  the other one was behind the rocks...
Boats were out on Lake George, ready for business!
This deer was at Silver Lake.  There actually were 3 other ones.  One was right behind me!
I love the boats at Silver Lake!
 Silver Lake boats and fishermen...
The mammoth at Mammoth Ski Lodge...

Twin Lakes~Water World Wednesday~October 19, 2016

I got up early one morning and went for a drive by myself because hubby wasn't feeling well.  It was early, about 7:30 a.m.  Mist was rising off Lake George and I wandered over to the bridge by Twin Lakes, above Mammoth.  Another photographer was there (a professional) and I must admit it~I followed him around!  HA!  We struck up a conversation (his wife was back at the campsite) and he even gave me a couple of tips!  We ended up shaking hands and he gave me his card.  I'm thankful for his patience and knowledge!

I had just heard a pack of coyotes here, but I never saw them.  Instead, the lakes were full of ducks and mud hens!  They were everywhere!

Lots of ducks on the lake...
 Early morning on the lake...
 Beautiful reflection!
These boats were still on the shore.

Sonora Pass

We traveled up the road to the Sonora Pass, since the road was open.  This is such a beautiful pass, with the mountains, streams, and aspen!  This is where I got altitude sickness once, so I was a little bit nervous.  This time, however, I was fine.  We stopped at one of the overlooks and let Ripley out for a nice stretch.  I always enjoy this road.

On up Highway 395 we went! Obsidian Dome road

We left Lundy Canyon behind and continued our trip up toward South Lake Tahoe.  We had rented an Air B&B cabin up there for 2 nights.

First we stopped at Obsidian Dome road.  It is very beautiful and peaceful back there and nobody was around, so we let Ripley out.  She was due for a car break anyway.  And, I gave her some water.

 Happy dog!  Lots to smell!
She got a water break, too.  She really is a good rider.  She either has her nose out the side window or she is sleeping in the back seat.
 Beautiful pine trees up there...

Ahhhhh....the pines smelled SO GOOD!
