On one of our shuttles at Zion National Park, one of the bus drivers mentioned that there is a pair of condors living near the park. We didn't see them in the park, but that afternoon we took the road to the Kolob Reservoir, which runs ABOVE Zion National Park. It is a county road, mostly dirt, and runs about 20 miles up before you reach the reservoir at the top of a mountain. It is a beautiful road and actually is on part of the national park land in some spots. We had stopped by a waterfall on our way up the road and when we returned back down, I spotted the two condors. One of them was making circles above the waterfall (probably enjoying the updraft) and the other one was off in the distance. We were grateful to see these magnificent birds and were glad that we had this opportunity! Sunday stills Challenge for June 20, 2010.
