Lynx Lake, Prescott, AZ

We stopped by Lynx Lake the first day of our stay in Prescott.  It is a beautiful lake, although it was a bit below its normal level.  There were plenty of picnic tables there for folks to enjoy the view.  I read somewhere that a pair of eagles had a nest on the side of this lake, but I didn't hear them.

Watson Lake near Prescott, AZ 040312

Hubby and I drove out to Watson Lake this afternoon.  It's located right outside of Prescott, up Highway 89. We wanted to stop and take some photos before returning to our hotel and grabbing some sandwiches from the Wildflower Baking Company for dinner.  There weren't many people out there and it was a fairly warm day.  I'm glad we stopped at the lake.  It is located among some of the most beautiful boulders I've seen, except for the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine, CA.  I would love to drive out there sometime at sunset, but maybe that won't happen this trip because hubby has some serious driving planned for the next two days...sigh...

Sunrise this morning

Hubby woke me up at 4:40 a.m. today.  Now, hubby isn't a morning person.  He's quite the opposite.  He'll stay up until midnight and then wake up at 9 a.m....Now, I AM a morning person, but I was snoring still asleep at 4:40, blistfully unaware of what was going on outside our hotel.  A THUNDERSTORM!  Yes!  With lightning, rain, and thunder. So, of course, we both had to sit and watch it.  BOOM!  CRACK! FLASH!  It went on for over an hour, then headed west toward the California border.  And, we got some nice rain.  So, I headed out with my camera as soon as it got light.  Here are some pics of what I saw this morning.  Don't you just love a nice, refreshing rain???? I'm not sure where we are headed today...maybe out to McDowell Mountain to see the old ruins there???

Photo from the Heart ~Creative Exchange~031511

As we drove home from Prescott yesterday, we took Highway 89 down the mountains. This beautiful valley is Peeples Valley in Arizona. We stopped to admire the cottonwoods and spent a while there, just inhaling the air and listening to the bees in the cottonwoods. Creative Exchange for March 15, 2011. Yellow leaves, Oak Creek Canyon~Mellow Yellow Monday 110810

I found this beautiful tree (maple?) in Oak Creek Canyon, AZ this past weekend. The oaks all had yellow leaves and so did many of the other trees there. I'm not sure what kind of tree this is...can somebody help me identify it? Mellow Yellow Monday for November 8, 2010.

Oak Creek Canyon Arizona~Scenic Sunday, SOOC, See it Sunday 110710

Hubby and I drove through Oak Creek Canyon yesterday afternoon, in Arizona. The aspen were pretty much gone, but he thought the oaks might be turning. He was right. I'll have to check the ones up Deep Canyon next weekend, when I have a***4 DAY WEEKEND***!!! (I'm so excited!) Anyway, this isn't Deep Canyon, but who knows what lies at the bottom of Deep Canyon? See it Sunday, Straight Out of the Camera Sunday, and Scenic Sunday for November 7, 2010.
