Heading into summer~~

Most bloggers talk about winter and their 6 months of it.  Well, here in Southern California, we talk about summer, especially here in California's lower desert.  And, unfortunately, summer is already upon us.  It was 107 degrees here yesterday and the rest of this week doesn't change much.  That means it's time to close up the house and turn on the air conditioner.  Ugh.  No more mornings of opening the front door and listening to the birds outside.  No more keeping the western windows coverings open.  It means we have to have fans circulating in the living room and the air conditioner on 24/7. It means $$$$ for air conditioning.  The summer rates don't start this early, so right now, we are paying through the nose to keep the house cool.

It also means trips to the Sierras and Idyllwild to get away from the heat.  And, summer has come EARLY this year.  I remember a couple of years since we've lived here that I didn't have to turn on the old air conditioner until July 4th!  Now, wouldn't that be great?  Yeah...not this year.  My wildflower mix sure is liking the heat, however!

  1. It's getting hot here in Las Cruces, New Mexico. We're going to hit the triple digits this week...

  2. Very pretty flowers! Yep, summer has arrived in the desert. I don't mind the heat and I'm still willing to go to the desert in the summer, but not my wife! Stay cool!
