First stop in Yuma

Our first stop in Yuma was at the territorial prison, which sits right along the Colorado River.  In fact, there used to be a ferry crossing there.  HA!~  Not this year!  The river is extremely low...sigh...

The prison was in fact closed, (open 9:00 - 5:00), but we enjoyed the sights there anyway, as well as the sunset. We did go back the next morning and do the tour of the prison and I'll be posting photos of that tomorrow.
The guard tower.  There is only ONE entrance and exit to the prison grounds.
 Peaceful sunset.

Bridge across the Colorado River.  Trains use it to enter Yuma.  They honk as they approach.  I'll have train photos tomorrow or the next day!

Looking east across the Colorado River out into the desert...

  1. enjoyed your photos - always wanted to go to Salton sea ..have read about it and know it's so different now than it use to be - but i know a lot of birds migrate through there including the pelicans i saw in your photos.
