I dedicate this blog to my father, who first put a camera in my hands when I was 12 and who took me to many of the places that I love today.

Kelso train depot
We returned home via the Mojave Preserve and the Kelso depot. If you haven't stopped there, be sure you do go out of your way to visit it! What a treasure in the desert! Two military trains went by, different directions, while we were there and the trains tooted as they passed. There is a gift shop and many exhibits to see while you are there and nice, CLEAN restrooms! (That's always a bonus for me!) Just be aware that the road to and from Kelso is...er...a bit bumpy, with MANY, many potholes! I was concerned because hubby's XTerra needs new tires, but we made it home okay. We did stop at Roy's Motel in Amboy, but I didn't take any photos. Hubby leaned out his window and took a few. I was more concerned about getting home and checking on the dog, cats, and birds. The birds (wild birds outside) hadn't had any food since we left on Monday and it was now Friday. They are back in full force this morning, enjoying their COSTCO birdseed! :-) While a trip is always nice, it's always good to be home again! :-)
