Yuma territorial prison

We got up Sunday morning, ate breakfast, and headed over to the Yuma territorial prison.  Both of us wanted to go inside it and take photos, since we had never been on the "tour".  It isn't a tour.  You get a guide map and you are off & on your own!  One way in, one way out...

It was interesting to see and go inside one of the cells.  That must have been horrible in the middle of July!  One cell only had 6 bunk beds!  That was it.  And, it barely had room to squeeze by them!  Ugh.  The prison also has a "dark cell" for especially BAD prisoners.  Sometimes, too, women were housed there.  It really was an interesting place to visit and if you are ever in Yuma, do stop by and walk around.  It is $6.00 to enter the prison and it is well worth the time!

Here are some photos I took:

  1. Great photos Cheryl Ann. That was the first place I visited when we arrived at Ogilby Road two winters ago. Neat place and your photos brought the memories back to me. Thank you.
