Daisy, Lady, and Loki

You know, I've posted and talked about my horses here, but I haven't introduced the rest of our family.  Lady, our current German Shepherd, is 6 years old.  A colleague of mine didn't want to keep her any longer (she had rehomed her), so when she asked at work if anybody wanted a 6 year old female shepherd, I immediately shouted, "I DO!"  We lost our last shepherd, Rommel, in December of 2011 to canine lupus (NOT pleasant...).  Hubby and I already had Ripley, our black lab, and our son's Weimeraner, Atticus.  However, as you shepherd people know, it's just NOT the same...So Lady came to live with us and Atticus went back to our son's house!  :-)  But, we already had a couple of cats, including Daisy (the orange and white tabby) and Loki, the white "monster".  Both were adopted from Petco weekend adoptions.  Let's see...Loki is now 17 years old and Daisy is 16.  She's really slowed down now and we just keep her inside. She's lost her muscle tone and I don't want to chance the neighborhood hawk swooping down and grabbing her!  Plus, it's been so cold that she wouldn't last outdoors at night.  I know she's on her last legs and we are trying to make her life indoors as pleasant as we can.  So, she gets her own cardboard box (with a towel) and she enjoys sleeping in it most of the time!  So, here they are...Lady, Daisy, and Loki!  I frequently see Loki and Lady curled up together out by the front porch, soaking up the sun!  He seems to tolerate Lady and she is so gentle with all the cats~ :-)  Photos taken in September, 2012, right after we got Lady.

  1. Very cute! We have several pets and it is a terrible thing to lose them... Where we live the hawks have plenty of smaller prey to hunt. It's the coyotes that cause us to never let our cats out. the coyotes walk up and down the streets at night and in the morning like they own the place...
